A ‘Synaxis…’ is an assembly of the loyal who gather to venerate a saint or the Mother of God. In Ortodox Church it is a special feast to the memory of the Virgin Mary, celebrated the day after Nativity of Jesus. The iconography is based  on the lines of the Chrismas sticheron  ‘What We Bring to Christ’ attributed to John Damascus. On the frescoes of each verse of the hymn corresponds to a certain image, and the entire composition represents the earth and heavenly world, which praises the Mother of God and brings gifts to the Savior born of her. The iconography of the image was formed at the end of 13th — beginning of 14th centuries in the Balkan Art and developed in Russian iconography from the end of 14th century.
