Konstantin Dmitriev was born in the village of Uemsky, Primorsky District, Arkhangelsk Oblast. He became famous not only as an artist, but also as one of the founders of the Primorye Arts and Crafts Museum. It was Dmitriev who started the project of the first museum logo and created several paintings specifically for the exhibition. These works were dedicated to the history and nature of the Arkhangelsk Oblast.

In its halls, in addition to the collection of paintings and graphic works, one could see items related to folk arts and crafts of the Primorsky region. For a long time, the main ones were fishing, harvesting timber and algae, hunting fur-bearing animals and game, mining salt and collecting tree resin. Most of the collected goods went for sale: almost from the moment of its foundation, Arkhangelsk became one of the largest trade centers in Russia, from which goods were delivered to different regions and exported abroad.
