The landscape “Pink morning in the Akademichka” ranks among lyrical picturesque works of Nikolai Nikolaievich Modorov. They were created in the Academical datchanamed after I.E. Repin in the 1980s. The dacha is the oldest creative base of the Union of Artists.
Pink morning in the Akademichka
It is located near Vyshny Volochyok in Tver Region on the shores of lake Mstino and on the river Msta bank. There are picturesque places with small villages near the river. A lot of visual artists lived and worked in those small villages over the years.
The people’s artists of RF Aleksey Mikhailovich Gritsay (1914-1998), Valentine Mikhailovich Sidorov (1928-2021), Boris Sergeevich Ugarov (1922-1991) and the others worked fruitfully in the Academical datcha in the 1960s –1970s.
A great many of significant landscapes and pictures of landscape and genre character which were exhibited at art exhibitions in the latter half of the 20thcentury were often created in the Academical datcha.
Apparently, N. N Modorov painted the landscape “Pink morning in the Akademichka” right there outdoors. The landscape is full of the author’s vibrant feelings and impression. The artist depicted vigorously the shape of trees, structures, the ground plane with the help of broad dabs of paint.
The landscape carries the painter’s aspiration to retain in eternity an immediate morning state of nature. Nikolai Modorov’s picturesque landscape shows color particular qualities of the artist’s late period of creativity: soft color palette without pure saturated colors.
