Yusupov completed his first long voyage, Grand Tour, in 1774-1777, while studying at Leiden University. It was customary to finish studies with a journey meant to enrich life experience and get first-hand impressions. Yusupov visited England, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. The study of architecture and the best collections of that time, meetings with the intellectual leaders of the era had a major impact on the prince’s interests and skills.
