The postcard was printed by a Moscow firm Nabgolts, Sherer and Co. It opened in 1863 and became one of the first companies to use the phototype printing technique. The image was made in halftones smoothly flowing from one to another. A sharp imprint resulted from the use of special forms. This technique allowed to get a lot of imprints with a minimum rate of material consumption. Phototype made high quality imprints, which did not lose colour or distort for many years.

Since 1896, Nabgolts, Sherer and Co. printed postcards with views of Moscow and later of other Russian cities. The company existed until 1918.

Architect Alexandr Sherbachev designed the Klodt Mansion specially for the merchant family of Ivan Klodt. The Mansion was built on Dvoryanskaya Street in 1898 on the land purchased by the merchant in 1877 after a fire in Samara.
#10
Sherbachev built a one-story brick building with a cylinder shaped tower. It reminds of a palace: the front of the building is overcovered by a tall pavilion above which there is an additional story with a cock-loft. The house and its land plot occupies approximately 2.5 thousand square meters.

During construction of the Mansion Alexandr Sherbachev paid tribute to traditions: like many other houses in Samara the Mansion is stretched into the yard. The architect used two colours for the facade - white bricks frame classic red bricks. The tiled roof is ornamented with red-white diamond symbols. The house is designed and built in a way that when looking at it from either side the general idea and composition could be visible.
#11
Some specialists refer the Klodt Mansion to the historicism style - an architectural mix of past styles, which, when united, look like fragments of different times. Others believe that when creating the design of the building Alexandr Sherbachev was inspired by German renaissance: geometrical brick ornaments, almost gothic spires of the Mansion and its arched relief parts suggest this.
