Order of the Red Banner of Labour
#5
In 1968, the Berezniki Komsomol was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and on February 5, 1971, a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR was issued on awarding the town of Berezniki with the Order. It reads: ‘For the successes achieved by the working people of the town in fulfilling the tasks of the five-year plan to increase the production of mineral fertilizers.’

The 8th Five-Year Plan was ranked in the history of Berezniki as a period of rapid socio-economic development. The town actively pursued social policy. We have built more than 300 thousand square meters of housing, 12 kindergartens, 50 public catering and trade enterprises.

The presentation of the order to Berezniki took place on October 15, 1971 in the premises of the Palace of Culture n.a. V.I.Lenin at a solemn meeting of representatives of all labor collectives of the town. The banner of the town was carried by one of the best workers of the Soda enterprise — foreman of locksmiths, Hero of Socialist Labor Vasily Boryagin. And the order was attached to the banner by the first secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU Boris Korotkov, who previously headed the Berezniki party organization.

A panel located in the front part of the facade of a residential building at the intersection of Pyatiletki Street and Lenin Avenue is a today’s reminiscent that BereznikI was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

The Order of the Red Banner of Labor was established on September 7, 1928. They were awarded for great achievements in the development of industry, for high indicators in labor productivity, for steady high indicators in fulfilling and overfulfilling planned targets.

The badge of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor is made of silver. The edges of the badge are made in the form of a cogwheel, the upper part of which is covered with a ruby-red enamel banner with an inscription in gold letters “USSR”.

The author of the drawing of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, model 1935, was the medalist of the Leningrad Mint Vladimir Golenetsky. In the center of the obverse of the order is a gilded image of a hammer and sickle against the backdrop of a hydroelectric power station and a railway bridge. Below the image is framed by a golden oak wreath in the form of a semicircle. On the cogwheel there is the inscription “Workers of all countries, unite!”

In the lower part of the order, along the cogwheel to the right and to the left, wheat ears diverge, intercepted in the middle by a wide ribbon on which there is a five-pointed star covered with red enamel.
