The collections of the Ivanovo Museum of Local History and the “Golden Room” exhibition feature several orders of Saint Anna. However, the presented order is special, as it was awarded to the founder of the museum Dmitry Gennadievich Burylin. The Order of Saint Anna 3rd Class is displayed among other awards.

Burylin was actively engaged in social life, and he was encouraged by society and the state with numerous awards. The founder of the museum received all of them for his charity work and public activities. An article published under the title “On the History of Dmitry Gennadievich Burylin’s Awards” goes into detail on that topic. It was based on documents from the State Archive of the Ivanovo region. Among other things, the article also mentions that Burylin was awarded the Order of Saint Anna.

The Order of Saint Anna was established in 1735 by Karl Friedrich, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, in honor of his wife Anna Petrovna, Grand Duchess and daughter of Emperor Peter I, who died in 1728. It was a dynastic order of knighthood. At first, the order only had one class.
