The exhibition is located in the Museum of Industry and Art — the main building of the Ivanovo Museum of Local History named after Dmitry Burylin.
Dmitry Gennadievich Burylin — the founder of the museum, a philanthropist and a prominent public figure — had a penchant for collecting antiques and rarities. This determined his purpose in life — to establish a museum and bring the Russian province closer to the rich world culture.
Dmitry Burylin spent a fortune on collecting. He amassed a unique collection over the course of several decades (from the late 19th to the early 20th century). The collection keeps Albert Billeter’s universal astronomical clock, a pistol made by Aleksey Surnin (“Lefty from Tula”), rare books including an incunable and a book by the Aldine House, numismatic rarities including a salt bar, plate money and a souvenir coin, as well as many other items. The exhibits date from antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
