The 1930 Order of Lenin badge is a round medallion portrait with a bas-relief of Vladimir Lenin in the center and an industrial landscape in the background. Under Lenin’s bas-relief there is an image of a tractor. Around the medallion, outside of the gold rim, there are ears of wheat, a gilded hammer and sickle. At the bottom of the badge there is an inscription “USSR” made of gold and red enamel.
In 1931, the Order of Lenin was awarded to Mirsaid Arduanov, the first builder of the Berezniki chemical plant and the city of Berezniki, a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee.
Mirsaid Arduanov was born in 1887. He participated in the First World War, in 1918-1921 he served in the Red Army. In the 1920s, he came to work at the construction sites of the Upper Kama region. Since 1927, he headed the artel of loaders of the Berezniki soda plant, a year later Arduanov’s brigade was awarded the Red Challenge Banner of the construction trade union committee.
In 1929, in the Usolsko-Lyonvensky district of the Verkhnekamye, the grandiose construction of the Bereznikovsky chemical plant began, in which Arduanov took part. On August 23, 1932, the plant produced its first product - ammonia.
On the occasion of the successful completion of the construction and the beginning of regular operation of the chemical plant, the People’s Commissar of Heavy Industry Grigory Ordzhonikidze in December 1935 telegrammed a delegation to Moscow. It included 20 people, including Arduanov. At the reception, each member of the delegation was presented with a personalized gift from the People’s Commissar - a gramophone with gramophone records in a case. Arduanov’s gift is also on display at the Berezniki History and Art Museum.
On April 12, 1936, the Presidium of the Berezniki Municipal Government renamed the Construction Workers Lane built during the first five-year plans into Arduanovsky Lane. In 1968, the bust of the first builder was installed in front of the management office building of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant, which was separated in 1940 from the Berezniki chemical integrated plant. In 1973, the regional Arduanov prize was established for the winners of the competition among construction workers.
The image of Arduanov was captured by Konstantin Paustovsky in his essay “The Giant on the Kama”, the Tatar writer Arifzyan Akhunova in the story “Arduan Batyr”, the portraits of the first builder were painted by the artists Friedrich Lecht and Leonid Starkov.
