The Gold star medal has been given to Heroes of the Soviet Union since 1939. They were also awarded the highest order of the USSR — Order of Lenin.
The presented medal belonged to Fyodor Kostin from the village of Adyshevo, Vyatka Governorate (nowadays it is the Kirov Region). Kostin was a sniper at the Western Front and especially distinguished himself in the battles for the liberation of the Baltic states.
For the courage and heroism shown in the fights of 1945, Fyodor Kostin was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union. An extract from the award sheet reads:
