The 80th Medical and Sanitary Squadron was established as part of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division. The squadron commander was a military doctor of the 3rd rank Igor Petrovich Chulkov, and the commissar was F. M. Sharanov. In 1943, the division was awarded “Guards” status and the squadron was renamed the 19th Guards Medical and Sanitary Squadron.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Medical and Sanitary Squadron carried out the most vital tasks: it organized a medical center and transported to it the wounded and the sick from the regimental medical center. In addition, it was engaged in setting up sanitary and infectious disease preventative measures.

The Medical and Sanitary Squadron provided first surgical aid to the wounded. The doctors often performed operations on patients close to the frontline. The provision of surgical care at the earliest possible time created favorable conditions for the successful treatment of the wounded during the subsequent stages of medical evacuation.

The commander of the 80th Medical and Sanitary Squadron was a military doctor of the 3rd rank Igor Petrovich Chulkov, a major of the Guards of the medical service. Pyotr Andreyevich Karakinov served as a military doctor (since February 1942 — a military doctor of the 3rd rank, and since 1943 — a colonel). The commander of the surgical platoon was a military doctor of the 3rd rank Akhmet Sagadat-Gareyevich Davletov, and the military feldsher was Sulu Akhmetovna Akhmetova. The commander of the allocation and evacuation department of the Separate Medical and Sanitary Squadron was a military doctor Kadriya Kutlubayeva. The major of the Guards of the medical service was Alexander Alekseyevich Sarygin, a military doctor of the 2nd rank.
