Yusupov had a tremendous impact on the development of various areas of Russian culture. If the Ministry of culture had been established back then, the prince would have been its head.

For his Arkhangelskoye estate, he built a theatre designed by the Italian artist Pietro Gonzaga, who was ahead of his time: the stage was intended not so much for the usual productions as for changing the sets to musical accompaniment. Thus, Gonzaga’s theatre can be viewed as the predecessor of music videos.
