This station bell was made at the end of the 19th century and hung on the building of the Nevyansk railway station. Bells like this were an integral part of any railroad station of that time. They were located at the entrance and notified passengers of the arrival or departure of trains. On average, trains stopped at the Nevyansk station for 17 minutes. Not only freight and mail used to stop here, but passenger trains as well.

The Ural Mining Railway was opened in 1878. It connected the cities of Perm, Yekaterinburg, Nizhniy Tagil, Nevyansk, and other settlements. It was also supposed to connect the Ural factories with coal and ore deposits and ensure the export of their products to the Kama River. The Mining Railway Society was established, with the help of which the main work was carried out.

The Demidovs' participation in the implementation of this project was to finance the construction of the Lunevskaya branch. One of the first railway tunnels in Europe, 65 sazhens long (about 130 m), was built here. On August 19, 1878, the first train passed through Nevyansk on the Ural Mining Railway.

Along the entire length of the railway, 48 stations were built near large settlements and railroad station buildings were opened. They were divided into five categories based on size. First-category stone stations were located in Perm and Yekaterinburg and, to travelers of the second half of the 19th century, seemed almost palaces. They were built according to the same standard project in the Old Russian style. The central part of the second-category stations at Chusovskaya, Biser, and Nizhniy Tagil stations was built of stone, and the side extensions were made of wood. There were eight, smaller third-category stations: the building in Nevyansk belongs to this category. They were made of wood in the Russian style and decorated with wood carvings.

The building of the Nevyansk railway station, constructed in 1878, housed the station master’s office, a waiting room, a freight office, and a refreshment room. In the on-duty operator’s office, there were a Morse telegraph and a switchboard.
