The constructor toy set was made by hand at the beginning of the 20th century. It consists of painted wooden elements. When it is assembled, one will get a model of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. It is the largest male monastery, which is located in the city of Sergiyev Posad, Moscow region. Such models were bought as a souvenir.
Local carpenters made architectural handicrafts. The box, which was covered with colored paper, contains about 57 parts and a sheet with a plan according to which the architectural ensemble was built. The cardboard box is in the display case to the right of the assembled model. Inside one can see the inscription: “A Gift from Uncle Kostya”. Most likely, this toy was purchased for little nephews by Murom resident who traveled to Sergiyev Posad as a pilgrim.
The assembled toy model of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius was in great demand. Craftsmen made up to 250 copies: from the largest samples with a bell tower 2.5 meters high to serial ones, no higher than 15 centimeters. The collection of the museum contains sets of a small size. The height of its bell tower is 18.5 centimeters.
According to the museum legend, the construction toy was kept for a long time in the house of Myazdrikov merchant family. In 1996, for the exhibition “Pilgrimage to Old Murom” it was provided to the museum by one of the distant relatives of the merchants. And later, in 2002, the same toy was donated by Mother Tabitha, Abbess of the Murom Women’s Trinity Monastery.
Representatives of Myazdrikov merchant family settled in different parts of Murom. One of them, Ivan Myazdrikov, in 1907 — 1917, was the mayor and a member of the city’s patronage for the poor. The collection of the museum contains his family photo book and his diary. It contains the records of the merchant about the family:
