Princes Yusupovs visited their estate in Rakitnoye every year. The last family members in the late 19th and early 20th centuries still followed a seasonal schedule — in winter they lived in their palaces in St. Petersburg, Tsarskoye Selo and Moscow, in summer they relaxed in Arkhangelskoye, and in autumn they stayed in Rakitnoye, while in late October they went to the Crimea.
In Rakitnoye, the Yusupovs were engaged in horseback riding on a specially built arena, hunting, and fishing in the ponds.
Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich Romanov and his wife Elizabeth Feodorovna often stayed at the Yusupov Palace in Rakitnoye. Sergey Alexandrovich wrote about his impressions of his trip to Rakitnoye in his diary in 1902:
