Until the 80s of the 19th century the steam boilers were designed and manufactured in Russia and abroad by several companies and factories. In 1890 Shukhov filed an application for a privilege on the invention of the water tube steam boiler. The privilege was granted to him in 1896, and a year earlier the Bari boiler plant began to work in Moscow, where they produced both horizontal and vertical water tube steam boilers of the Shuhov system, which outperformed the similar boilers of the German company ‘Steinmüller’ and American company ‘Babcock and Wilcox’. Subsequently the skilled worker Andrei Evstigneevich Andrianov from the village Vetelnitsy, Ivan Ivanovich Zaitsev from the village Shankovo, Timofey Ivanovich Ogaryshev from the village settlement Krasnoe, Ivan Osipovich Valov, Ivan Filippovich Gusev and Dmitry Stepanovich Vdovin from the village Gonchary worked in the boiler shop of this factory. About Gusev should be told separately. The best riveter, when he had the opportunity to visit home in the village, for many years of work at the factory in Moscow, he had never used any kind of transport for this. The route from Moscow to the Gorokhovets sheading and back, which amounted to more than three hundred versts (a Russian unit of distance equal to 1.067 kilometers (0.6629 mile)), he always walked with a knapsack over his shoulders. Ivan Aleksandrovich Shorin, a peasant from the village Vyezd, who in 1888-1897 worked in the ‘Drafting office’ of Bari, became the head of workshops at the Tikhoretskaya station in the Vladikavkaz railway. Subsequently he became the owner of the Gorokhovetsky boiler plant, which later became the shipbuilding yard.
It is also known that at the beginning of the 20th century the boiler makers from Gorokhovets took part in the construction of the anniversary (thousandth) locomotive in Kharkov at the Engine plant (photo from the archive of the Borishchevs from the village Morozovka).
