Filmoscope is the name of slide projectors adopted in the USSR, specially designed to demonstrate roll-up filmstrips with a frame size of 18×24 mm[.

It has a simple single-lens lens, but the image focuses quite well over the entire area of the frame. The maximum image size is up to two meters diagonally. It is worth noting that the filmoscope is made of iron and its back part is heated by the lamp. The frame for filmstrips is classic with rubber wheels, but the filmstrip does not stretch under the bottom through the entire device, and when leaving the frame, it immediately twists into a roller and wears out less.

The F-49 filmoscope is arranged very simply. The base is a metal housing with a pipe. A lens, a frame for filmstrips and a two-lens condenser are inserted into it. A transformer is fixed in the lower part of the housing, which are closed from below with a metal lid.

Filmstrips were watched late at night, the image was projected onto a white wall or a sheet was pulled over. Despite the availability, filmoscopes were not in every family. Filmstrips were also shown at the “extension” in junior classes and kindergartens
