Hybrid violet is a perennial herbaceous plant. It is a hybrid of dog violet (Viola canina) and sand violet (Viola fimbriatula). There is a legend that goes that a tree nymph was turned into this flower. Another legend involves several mortals who dared spy on the goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite, and Zeus turned the nosy men into the beautiful flowers that resemble the shape of a big eye by their shape.

The plant is 5 to 15 cm tall. It has a short bushy root. One stem bears several flowers, one on each long stalk. The five-petal flowers are largely light-blue.
