The Museum Center houses a copy of the black-and-white photograph ‘Drama club’s committee of the Krasny Boyevik workers’ club’. The original photograph was taken in 1921. It captured a meeting of the executive committee of the drama club, where they approved new performances and cast parts.

By the 2nd anniversary of Soviet power, the drama club already moved to a new building with a spacious foyer, an auditorium for 600 seats, and a balcony for 100 seats. All the scenery and costumes were created by the participants themselves in their free time. The club’s repertoire included plays by Anton Chekhov, Nikolay Ostrovsky, Nikolay Gogol, and other famous playwrights. The performances had a fixed schedule and were willingly attended by workers. All the money received from the tickets was donated to the orphans and starving people fund. In the summertime, the factory actors arranged weekend performances in the villages of Tambovsky, Kozlovsky and Kirsanovsky uyezds.

In 1970, the drama club was headed by director Alexander Baturov, and three years later it became the People’s Theater. Nowadays, it is still known as the People’s Theater named after Alexander Baturov. The theater’s performances have repeatedly won awards at the oblast, regional and All-Russian festivals of people’s art.
