A ciborium is a sacred vessel for storing and transporting the consecrated bread and wine used for the Holy Eucharist outside the church.
This object is the contribution of Archimandrite Nicodemus to the Trinity Cathedral of the Antonievo-Siysky Monastery in 1692. The ciborium was ‘built’ at the personal expense of Nicodemus, and was probably made by local craftsmen. At the end of the 17th century, in the Siysky monastery, a lot of work in decorating the temples was done, in which Nicodemus himself took part. The ciborium came to the museum in 1920 from the devastated Antonievo-Siysky Monastery.
