The collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum contains the painting ‘Birches at the Oskol River’, which was painted by local artist Nikolay Ivanov. 

For his many years of work, Nikolay Ivanov was awarded many times with certificates and diplomas. In 1965 he received a certificate of honor from the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR. After retirement, Ivanov continued to work. After the artist’s death, his wife handed over personal belongings, photographs and, of course, a large number of paintings to the Urazovo Museum.

Nikolay Ivanov painted the picture ‘Birches at the Oskol River’ in 1983, where he created a unique image of his native nature. He depicted a fine summer day on it. Behind a bright, multi-colored meadow, you can see how lush green trees with young leaves stretch. On the right there are two birches, and along the meandering Oskol River, a bush rarely grows — its reflection can be seen in the water mirror.

When creating the picture, Nikolay Ivanov used thick strokes of paint, with the help of which he painted an endless blue sky with beautiful clouds. Due to the variety of color palette, the sky on the canvas looks three-dimensional. The sun is still high above the horizon, and its light spills thinly, painting everything around with bright colors. In the distance, you can see a temple that rises majestically above the outlines of houses and almost merges with the sky.
