The museum keeps a photograph of Vladimir AksYOnov -- a Russian space pilot, flight engineer of the space ship ‘Soyuz-22’ and the space ship ‘SoYUz T-2’, two times Hero of the Soviet Union.
Vladimir AksYOnov was born on 1 February 1935 in Giblitsy village, Ryazan Oblast. In 1949, he graduated from seven classes of school in his native village and enrolled in the industrial college of the city of Kasimov, Ryazan region. Four years later he moved to the suburbs of Mytishchi, Moscow region, where in 1953 he graduated from the machine-building technical school. He studied at the 10th Military Aviation School of Undergraduate Pilot Training in Kremenchug, Ukrainian, and then became a cadet of the ChugUyevsky Air Force Academy, but in 1956 he was transferred to the reserve. In 1963 he graduated from the All-union Polytechnic Institute.
Vladimir AksYOnov took part in the development and testing of spacecraft ‘VostOk’, ‘VoskhOd’, ‘SoyUz’, space station ‘SalYUt’. He designed and evaluated spacecraft compartments. He was also involved in their experimental development. He trained astronauts as well. He made 250 flights on a trainer aircraft, experienced simulated weightlessness 1250 times and lunar gravity 150 times. At the meeting of the State Cross-agency Commission on March 27, 1973, Aksyonov was recommended to enlist to the cosmonaut team.

After that Vladimir AksYOnov continued to work at the Yuri Gagarin Space Training Centre, taking part in training crews for new space flights. Dismissed from the cosmonaut team on October 17, 1988 due to retirement and reassignment.
In 1982 Izhevskoye village celebrated the 125th anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. Aksenov was an honorary guest of the museum, in one of the halls of which he saw the descent vehicle ‘Soyuz-22’. The astronaut noted: ‘It’s nice to see your ‘space home’. At the end of the conversation, he left an autograph on the plating of the descent vehicle. In 2011, a monument to Vladimir AksYOnov was opened in Ryazan.
