The collection of the Gorlovka Art Museum displays the main stages of the development of Russian art from the 18th to the 21st century.
The exhibition “Jewels of the Museum Collection” introduces visitors to the paintings of Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, Alexey Gavrilovich Venetsianov, Ilya Efimovich Repin, Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev, Mikhail Alexandrovich Vrubel and many other outstanding artists of the mid-19th — early 20th century.
The exposition is crowned by the monographic hall of the works by Nicholas Konstantinovich Roerich. 28 “Russian period” paintings of the artist were received by the museum in 1962 as a gift from collector Sergei Alekseevich Mukhin.
The art of the early and mid-20th century is represented by the works of artists of the era of socialist realism: Alexander Mikhailovich Gerasimov, Fyodor Pavlovich Reshetnikov, Ivan Antonovich Tikhiy, Tatiana Nilovna Yablonskaya and many other Soviet painters.
The museum collection features a wide variety of creative works by artists of Donbass, including Taras Georgievich Shevchenko, Yuri Valentinovich Zorko, Grigory Antonovich Tyshkevich, Viktor Konstantinovich Kumundzhiev, and Alexander Mikhailovich Zabolotny.
In total, the museum’s collection contains more than
3,600 works of fine art.
