The museum’s ethnographic collection describes the culture and life of the peoples inhabiting the territory of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as the cultural relations between Russians, Mordovians and Tatars in the past and today.
The guests can enjoy a collection of national Mordovian clothing, Russian peasant and Tatar costumes. The museum also exhibits items of everyday life, religious cult, arts and crafts.
Unique ethnographic photographs of the late 19th — early 20th centuries, housed in the museum, as well as the private collections of scientists, local historians: Makar Evsevyev, Boris Temnogrudov, Mikhail Markelov, Pavel Stepanov and others have a great historical value.
