The main collection of the museum’s gallery is located in the building of the former Penza branch of the Peasants’ Land Bank, built in 1910-1912 in the Art Nouveau style.
The permanent exhibition located on the second floor of the building has more than a thousand works and consists of several sections: Flemish and Dutch art of the 17th century, French and Italian painting of the 17th — 19th centuries, and the most significant section is Russian art of the 17th — 20th centuries.
Here are the artists such as Fedor Rokotov, Dmitry Levitsky, Ivan Makarov, Ilya Repin, Ivan Shishkin, Vasily Surikov, Isaac Levitan, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Konstantin Korovin and Mikhail Vrubel.
The collection of the Russian avant-garde includes about 40 works by Aristarkh Lentulov, more than 30 works by Robert Falk, works by Pyotr Konchalovsky, Natalia Goncharova and Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin.
