The exhibition “Tyumen — The War — The Great Victory” was opened at the City Duma Museum in 2015. It was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The exhibition is dedicated to life in Tyumen before and during the Great Patriotic War, including the recreation park also known as “Dunya’s garden”, the club car of the bathing train, which was financed by voluntary donations of Tyumen citizens, and weapons produced at Tyumen plants during the war, such as the PPSh submachine gun and the BM-37 mortar.
Much attention is paid to the work of the evacuated enterprises and the heroic deeds of Tyumen citizens at the front. Many of them were awarded orders and medals, and some of them received the honorary title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
During the war, several divisions were formed in the Tyumen Region, including the 368th Red Banner and Pechenga Rifle Division, which reached Norway and liberated the city of Kirkenes from the Nazi invaders.
The collection of the museum features numerous finds discovered in the areas where the division fought battles. The museum also houses historical documents, personal belongings of citizens and war participants, as well as weapons.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
