The Treasures of Ancient Murom is a permanent exhibition of the Murom History and Art Museum. It offers a glimpse into the history of the Murom land and introduces the museum guests to the distant pre-Peter the Great era. Among its exhibits, visitors will see ancient icons, books, archaeological finds and items from Murom temples.
The exposition is dedicated to epic ballads, folk tales and legends, which are abundant in the history of ancient Murom. The main heroes of the exhibition are Peter and Fevronia — the patrons of a happy marriage, Princes Constantine, Mikhail and Fyodor — Murom’s Baptists, Murom miracle-workers and builders of temples and monasteries. The guests of the museum will get acquainted with ancient Russian works of art of the 14th-19th centuries.
