Artwork from various historical epochs are on display at the exhibition: from ancient 12th century icons to Soviet historical landscapes. Among the exhibits, one can see one of the biggest paintings in the world The Copper Serpent and a unique mosaic portrait of Elizaveta Petrovna made of hundreds of fine mosaic pieces. The names of some pictures are widely popular so they have become like common household names: The Last Day of Pompeii, Barge Haulers on the Volga, and The Ninth Wave.
