The exhibition ‘Bunin’s Russia’ is located in a wing of the house where Ivan Bunin was born in 1870 and lived for the first three and a half years of his life. The house is also known as ‘Manor of A.E. Germanovskaya’.
The exhibition introduces the visitors to the works of the worldwide famous writer, the first Russian author who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. The collection includes letters, manuscripts, rare lifetime editions with autographs, handwritten dedicatory inscriptions and notes left by the writer, as well as his personal belongings.
The main aim of this exhibition is not simply to tell a story about Ivan Bunin’s life, but also to represent the themes and imagery of his works. ‘The Life of Arseniev’, ‘The Gentleman from San Francisco’, ‘Mitya’s Love’, ‘Antonovka Apples’ — visitors will get a chance to look at their favorite stories from a different angle, learn about their history of publication and see what the first editions looked like.
