The Ivan Nikitin Museum encompasses a number of museums. The complex includes the City Council Building, the Ivan Nikitin House-Museum, the Mariya Mordasova Apartment-Museum, the Dmitry Venevitinov Estate-Museum, the Tyurins House and the Ivan Bunin Museum.
Over the years, the museum has accumulated one of the greatest collections of manuscripts, autographs, photographs and personal belongings of prominent writers. The collection contains around 30,000 items.
The museum takes pride in housing priceless items, donated to the Ivan Bunin Museum when the exhibition was being created: a hunting bag and a Bible that belonged to Bunin, a typewritten manuscript of one of the first editions of Vera Muromtseva-Bunina’s memoirs “Conversations with Memory”, and signed lifetime editions of Bunin’s books.
