The collection of the Oryol Museum of Local History tells about the Oryol Region history from ancient times to the end of the 20th century. The main exhibition is dedicated to the life of different classes: merchants, nobility, and philistines. Museum visitors can look into a merchant’s house and see original costumes, portraits, and old household items. They can learn about the rich 18th–19th centuries noble estates from the collections of family portraits, inlaid furniture, and porcelain. An old oak buffet, an authentic wall cuckoo clock, and an original 19th-century wedding dress are displayed in the recreated interior of the philistine living room.
