Sergei Esenin: his life and creative work

The literary display follows the life and work of Sergei Esenin through the poet’s personal effects, copies of his books, letters, and memorable photographs. Being exhibited in the museum’s Scientific-Cultural Centre building, it welcomed its first visitors in 1995. Items, documents, manuscripts, fine art pieces, which allow to sequentially present Sergei Esenin’s poetic development, are kept here. These exhibits allow to follow all the stages of Esenin’s life from his birth in 1895 until his mysterious death in 1925. Immersion is enhanced by memorabilia: the cradle where infant Sergei was rocked by his mother, a wall panel from the Moscow apartment of the poet’s father, as well as Yesenin’s jacket, cane and top hat. Esenin’s works published during his lifetime are featured extensively. Among them, particular emphasis is placed on Yesenin’s first book of poems Radunitsa, his handwritten works, letters, documents, and books from the poet’s personal library.
