The historical and literary exposition Worthy Son of the Motherland was unveiled in the Saratov Memorial Estate of N.G. Chernyshevsky in March 1988. Every section of the exhibition tells about the life and creativity of Russian thinker, scholar, publicist, critic and writer Nikolay Chernyshevsky.
The writer’s family had a clear understanding of what Nikolay Chernyshevsky’s name meant for Russia — his archive has been carefully preserved. When Olga Sokratovna Chernyshevskaya distributed her deceased husband’s belongings among his friends as it was customary at the time, she initialed each of them. Those inscriptions made it possible to find and bring back many items — photographs, books, furniture and personal belongings of the writer and his family, which are now displayed in the museum halls.
