The Saratov Memorial Estate of N.G. Chernyshevsky was founded by the writer’s son Mikhail Chernyshevsky on September 17, 1920. The estate represents a complex of memorial buildings: here are located the Chernyshevskys’ house, Olga Chernyshevskaya’s outbuilding, the house and outbuilding of the close relatives Pypins.
The historical and literary exposition Worthy Son of the Motherland dedicated to the life, creativity and entourage of the writer is displayed in an administrative building. The museum’s unique exhibits include belongings cherishing the memory of their owners.
The museum holds excursions across the 19th-century estate, organizes theatrical folk festivals, literary and musical evenings and scientific readings on a regular basis. The museum welcomes around 100 thousand people a year.
