The museum’s exhibition shows the history of Mariinsk — a chief town of one of the Siberian districts from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The town grew and developed more rapidly than any other town in Kuzbass thanks to the money of shopkeepers, gold and timber merchants, and also due to closely situated Moscow-Irkutsk Highway.
The exhibition displays authentic items related to significant events of town history in previous centuries. They are birch bark shoes, a cast-iron stove, an old gramophone, a kerosene lantern, travelers’ chests, clothing of convicts from Sibirsky Highway, and many more. The collection contains personal belongings of famous culture and science workers. For example, there is a field tunic of Alexei Leonov — the first person to conduct a spacewalk.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
