It is located in the building of a zemstvo school that was erected in 1915. Nowadays, the building looks the same as at the beginning of the 20th century, even the layout of the premises has survived to this day. Until 2017, here operated an elementary school, and in 2018, to the centenary of the death of the imperial family, there was opened a museum.

A century ago, the building was located on the outskirts of the town near a field, hence its name — Napolnaya. It was here where lived in exile the Alapayevsk martyrs — members of the Romanov dynasty — who were executed in July 1918. Today the museum is located in the central, historic district of Alapayevsk.

#22
The museum exposition at the Napolnaya School acquaints visitors with materials on the life of the members of the Romanov dynasty. They lived in Alapaevsk for more than two months — from May to July 1918.
The exposition is based on materials dedicated to the life of the Romanovs. Exhibition halls are organized in the rooms in which Alapayevsk prisoners were in custody. The exhibition presents clothing recreated from the original patterns, as well as reproductions of paintings in which famous artists depicted the members of the royal family. The halls host archive documents, family photographs, awards and orders, household items of that era, as well as old icons and books.
