The exhibition “The Image of Peter the Great” presents unique examples of Russian printed engravings of the late 17th — first half of the 18th centuries.
The exhibition displays works by European masters, such as Adriaan Schoonebeek, Pieter Pickaert, Christian Albert Wortmann, and their Russian students: Alexey Zubov, Alexey Rostovtsev and others. A variety of themes and techniques (stipple engraving, burin, mezzotint) creates a detailed picture of the establishment and development of the Russian school of engraving in the era of Peter the Great.
The presented collection of engravings of the 17th–19th centuries belonged to Leonid Alekseyevich Voeykov, one of the first historiographers of the Tambov region, a bibliophile, collector, and a member of the Tambov Scientific Archival Commission.
The exhibition was included in the program of events of the Assembly of Peter’s Museums of Russia. It was created on the initiative of the Peterhof Museum and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the exhibition is to popularize the legacy of Peter the Great in the regions of the country associated with his name and to celebrate the upcoming 350th anniversary of the emperor.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
