The history of the collections of the Kaliningrad Museum of History and Art is directly related to the history of the region. For decades the museum, which is the same age as the Kaliningrad region, has been a collector and guardian of cultural and historical values reflecting the history of the region and offering insight into the complex nature of social processes in this territory.
The first entries into the collections of the Museum of History and Art were the products of industrial enterprises of the newly formed region, jewelry of the Kaliningrad Amber Factory, and random finds of the region’s residents, which dated back to the pre-war history of the region.
The exhibition “Routes of the
Past and Present” tells visitors about the geographical features of the region,
pieces of decorative and applied art, findings of archaeological expeditions,
sculptures by local artists, and the thematic collection “Hoffmaniana”. In
total, the museum’s collection includes more than 150 thousand items.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
