The exhibition “The Mari Region. Historical milestones” is dedicated to the culture of the Mari people and covers the period from the late 16th to the end of the 20th century.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
The exhibition includes figures, layouts and dioramas, which reveal information about the tarkhans, the way the Tsaryovokokshaysk fortress used to look and how goods were delivered to the Kozmodemyansk wood fair, considered the second in Russia in terms of wood turnover.
The visitors can also see furniture and sculptures from the estate of the Sheremetev landowners in the Yurino village. The items from Soviet times tell the story of famous Mari people — an actor and poet Yvan Kyrla, a stage actress Galina Ivanova-Yamaeva, and a journalist Pyotr Shorsky.
