The exhibition ‘Kuznetsk fortress’ deals with a historical and fortification site of the same name dated XVIII–XIX centuries. Permanent exhibitions of the museum introduce the guests to the ancient history of basin and Northern Altay, to the history of Kuznetsk uyezd establishment and development in XVII–XVIII centuries, military history of Kuznetsk fortress.
Archaeological monuments, military and fortified structures on the museum site can be visited during the excursion.
The exhibition combines two collections. The one called ‘XVII–XVIII cent. Kuznetsk ostrog — the town of Kuznetsk. Excavations of various years’ contains household and military items of the Russian settlement. The collection of weapons contains items of XIX — mid- XX centuries, including the period of the Great Patriotic War. It numbers about 200 items — cold- and fire-arms including rare displays like the barrel with KonovAlov back sight of the 3-line rifle, model 1891.
