The Mordovian Republican Museum of Visual Arts named after S.D. Erzia houses and exponentially increases the collection of works by Mordovian artists of the 20th — the early 21st centuries. The works of Mordovian painters present a variety of stylistic techniques and genres: from Realism to Avant-garde. Remaining creatively diverse, the painters inherit the best traditions of Russian art.
The central line uniting the works of Mordovian artists is the major philosophical topic “Earth and people”. The collection includes portraits of prominent cultural figures of Mordovia, as well as images of rural workers.
Philosophical and symbolic canvases are dedicated to the theme of spiritual heritage and memory. In these works, the artists create generalized images and provide a profound understanding of reality.
