The collection consists of a number of exhibitions telling about the history of the region. The exhibition “Paleolithic Era” introduces visitors to the artifacts of the Stone Age and tools of ancient man.
The “Bronze Age” exhibition impresses the visitors with the finds of objects belonging to the Tagar archaeological culture, which originated on the territory of the Khakass-Minusinsk Basin. It features jewelry made of various materials, weapons, household items, bronze products of the Scythian-Siberian animal style. The exhibition “Xiongnu-Sarmatian epoch” is represented by objects from the treasure trove of an ancient caster.
More recent items can be seen in the exhibition “Tashtyk archaeological culture.” Among them are goblet-shaped patterned vessels, grinding and milling stones, parts of horse harness, and farming tools.
The exhibition about the state of the Yenisei Kyrgyz (2nd–13th centuries) includes arrowheads, knives, a sword of a Kyrgyz warrior, and copper jewelry. Handwritten and old printed books can be seen in the exhibition “Artifacts of Christianity of the 18th — early 20th century.”
