The permanent exhibition ‘History of Kasimov District Through the Ages’ demonstrates the everyday life of the town from its foundation to the present day.
The collection contains rare polychrome church sculptures of the 17th — 18th centuries, Vyrkovo toys, furniture and interior items from ancient estates of the Olenin and the Golitsyn families, as well as elements of Russian and Tatar costumes.
The exhibition is located at the spacious mansion of the merchants Alyanchikov on the Sobornaya Square. They were native citizens of Kasimov. The Alyanchikovs built their house in 1844, which included 38 rooms. In Soviet times, there were various offices, residential apartments, and the House of Pioneers. In 1998, the building was given to the museum.
