The exhibition Hall of History of the 16th — Early 20th Centuries is the largest display in the Museum of Local History of the Republic of Mordovia dedicated to the history of the region and the city of Saransk. Each exhibit is a small trip to the past, and a chance to appreciate the culture and traditions of our forefathers.
The exhibition Hall of History of the 16th — Early 20th Centuries displays Old Russian icons, paintings and graphics of artists whose life was connected with Mordovia, antique furniture, handmade garments, unique jewelry, and rare historical documents. The exhibits include the icons Christ Pantocrator, Our Lady of Kazan, the Origin of the Holy Wood of the Life-Giving Cross, the painting by Ivan Kuzmich Makarov, An Italian Woman with a Bunch of Grapes, a pendant with the symbol of the Riurikids, and many other works of art.
