Of special pride is the section of the bone-carving art: miniature sculptures made from the mammoth tusk (Yakut woman at the horse tethering post by Vasiliy Popov, The Spirit of the Lake by Fyodor Markov) and from reindeer’s horn (Wayfarer by Mikhail Sleptsov).
The exposition also demonstrates articles made by folk masters: wooden crockery, handicraft items from birch bark, braids from horsehair and beaded embroidery.
The Art of Yakutia of the 20th century is represented by all forms and genres, styles and trends. The exhibition includes monographic sections by the republic’s leading artists: Pyotr Romanov, Aleksei Munkhalov, Mikhail Starostin and other masters.
