The works displayed at the permanent exhibition “Art Scene of Komsomolsk-on-Amur” present a vivid documentation of the era, conveyed through the artistic language.
Large-scale canvases dedicated to the history of the development of the Russian Far East, the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the national culture of the Amur region, lyrical landscapes, unique panels, sculptures, and portraits created by artists from the Russian Far East — they all paint an all-encompassing, colorful and diverse picture of Khabarovsk Krai.
The artists depicted the views of the region following the traditions of realism, endowing the canvases with philosophical and spiritual meanings.
The represented artists include the first painter of the city Georgy Tsivilyov and the first sculptor Nadezhda Ivleva, Khabarovsk painters Grigory Zorin and Yakov Kurilenko, philosopher and painter Yevgeny Korolenko, “Space Tiger” Georgy Lee Girsu and “the last romantic of the era” Viktor Lanovenko, Nanai craftsmen Alexander Geyker and Lyudmila Passar, and many others.
