The exhibition “Ethnic Panorama of Siberia” is a series of historical and cultural complexes illustrating elements of material and spiritual culture, and ethnic traditions of the major national groups living in Siberia. The specific features of their dwellings, traditional economy, and national costume are reflected in the items collected by the West Siberian Department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society in the late 19th — early 20th century, as well as in the additions of recent decades.
The exhibits provide an insight into folk
architecture and domestic life, as well as ritual practices and religious
beliefs, traditional practices of child-rearing, and examples of artwork not
only of major peoples of the Siberian region (Russians, Kazakhs, Ukrainians,
Germans, Tatars, Armenians), but also of small ethnic groups (Moldavians, Roma,
Jews and others).
