The Omsk State Museum of History and Regional Studies is the oldest in Siberia. It was founded in 1878 by the Western-Siberian Department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society.
The museum has a permanent exhibition and six exhibition halls. Each year the Omsk State Museum of History and Regional Studies collections are enriched by 2.5–3 thousand items, and today the total collection has more than 240 thousand exhibits. It displays archival documents, rare photographs, and early printed books, the works of fine arts, weapons, coins, and archaeological finds.
