The Sergiev Posad Museum-Reserve holds a collection of icon painting, artistic embroidery, precious metal products and folk art of the 16th-20th centuries. Academician Dmitry Likhachev described the museum as the Hermitage of Russian Culture.
This exhibition presents treasures from the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius — precious icon settings, liturgical vestments, palls with pearls and gemstones, masterpieces of goldsmiths, including gifts of Russian sovereigns. Here you can also see authentic exhibits that are collected from different regions of Russia: antique furniture and household items, national costumes, works of art and decorative and applied art, as well as architectural elements of peasant houses.
