The exhibition includes more than 1,000 objects that illustrate the history of Gelendzhik through the periods of the Bronze Age, Antiquity, the Middle Ages and tell the story of the city during the Caucasian and Great Patriotic War.
One of the sections is dedicated to the mysterious dolmen culture and includes a collection of plugs used in ancient times to close the entrance to stone structures.
The military exhibition of the museum informs about the milestones in the history of the battle for the Caucasus and the battle for Novorossiysk. Gelendzhik was not just a front-line city — it was a training base for offensive operations, as well as a hospital city. Gelendzhik accommodated a huge number of wounded soldiers. There they were treated, fed, welcomed with love, instilled with hope, their spirits were lifted. All health resorts, schools and clubs were turned into more than 50 military and evacuation points, which cured and more than 50,000 soldiers.
The museum also presents exhibits that will introduce the visitors to the interesting and original local Circassian culture.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
